2026 NOLA Dogs "Race to the Rescue" 5K Run/Walk
The 9th annual NOLA Dogs Race to the Rescue is a 5K Run/Walk held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Heaven's Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie on Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans. The course goes through the historic grounds of Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery.
The event offers an in-person, chip-timed race and a virtual division. Participant items listed for the event include a commemorative T-shirt, a finisher medal, a goodie bag, and post-race refreshments. A second line parade with a live brass band takes place before the race and a Blessing of the Pets is scheduled after the race.
Fundraising is part of the event structure. Fundraising organizations associated with the event have raised $1,338.51 to date. Participants are encouraged to raise funds; an optional suggestion is a minimum of $100 and a raised amount of $250 or more makes registration free. Prizes include $100 cash and a trophy for first-place male and female finishers, and trophies for top fundraising teams.
