Fried Chicken Festival 5K Run
The Fried Chicken Festival 5K Run and Walk takes place at the New Orleans Lakefront on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The event uses the green space behind the UNO Lakefront Arena with the start and finish in front of the festival front gates. The course travels west along Lakeshore Drive, turns around at the Bayou St. John marker, and returns to the finish line. Water stations are positioned along the route.

- 5K for runners walkers and joggers
- 1 mile Kids Fun Run for kids 12 and under with accompanying adult
The 5K is USATF certified and timed by Grounded Running. Medals are awarded to all finishers. Cash prizes include $250 for first male first female first male student and first female student, and a $1000 prize for the team with the most registered participants. Team registration and multi person pricing are available; registering five or more at once reduces the per person cost by five dollars.
Two registration levels exist: one that includes race entry plus festival admission for Saturday re entry and one that covers race entry only. Registration prices increase in tiers as race day approaches. The event is stroller friendly with requirements for stroller placement and for young children to remain in strollers. Dogs are not allowed. ADA and accessibility accommodations are available. Race shirts are distributed during packet pick up and sizes may be limited for late registrations.
