No Man's Land Trail Run
No Man's Land Trail Run is a trail event held at Sam Houston Jones State Park near Lake Charles, LA. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 7.78 Miler (about an 8 mile loop)
The primary course is an approximately 8 mile loop around the park perimeter that follows the Riverwalk Trail and sections named Eagle Scout, Purple Haze Extension, Nature Conservancy, Old Blue, Blue Connector and Cabin Trail before returning along the river to the boardwalk. One loop has roughly 125 feet of elevation gain and loss. The course surface includes roots, frequent twists and turns, water crossings and bridges. For 2026 the course was adjusted and the previous road portion has been removed. The route will be marked with flags as confidence markers and arrows at turns.
There are two aid stations: a full manned station at the start and a second staffed station at about mile four offering water, electrolytes and snacks. The start area has on-site and portable restrooms; the remote aid station does not have restrooms.
Pacers are allowed only for the 50K and only for the final two loops; one pacer per runner and runners must carry their own supplies. An 8 Mile Ruck Division is offered with dry weight recommendations of 30 pounds for participants over 150 pounds and 20 pounds for those under 150 pounds; intentionally heavier or inappropriate gear is not allowed. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each distance and one DFL award per distance. There are no age group awards. Drops in distance are allowed if race staff are notified before the race start. The event does not offer refunds, rollovers or transfers. Camping options include park cabins and RV spots; additional hotels are available in the greater Lake Charles area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
