No Man's Land Trail Run - Lake Charles, LA
No Man's Land Trail Run takes place at Sam Houston Jones State Park near Lake Charles, LA. The event offers several distance options:
- 50K
- 25K
- 7.78 Miler
The core course is an approximately 8 mile loop around the park perimeter. The route follows the Riverwalk Trail, Eagle Scout and Purple Haze Trail, the Nature Conservancy Trail, Old Blue Trail, and Stagecoach Trail. About 90% of the course is on trail and 10% on road. One loop has roughly 125 feet of elevation gain and loss, with most climbing on the blue trail. Trails include roots, continuous twists and turns, and multiple water crossings and bridges. The course is marked with flags as confidence markers and arrows at turns.
For 2026 the course will be slightly different due to trail changes; final details will be posted when available.
An 8 Mile Ruck division is offered; rucking on other distances is permitted but the ruck is no longer a separate distance option. Recommended dry weights are 30 lbs for participants over 150 lbs and 20 lbs for participants 150 lbs. Heavy duty or service gear is not permitted. Pacers are allowed only for the 50K and only for the final two loops; one pacer per runner and pacer bibs are required.
Aid Station 1 at the start/finish pavilion is fully staffed and offers on-site and portable restrooms. Aid Station 2 near mile 4 provides water, electrolytes, and snacks but has no restroom facilities. Packet pickup is available at the pavilion the day before the race and on race day; participants should notify park rangers on arrival so entry fees are covered for runners.
Awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Each distance also has a DFL award. There are no age group awards. Drops in distance are allowed if race staff are notified before the start; dropping to a shorter distance during the race without notification results in a finisher recognition for the completed distance but ineligibility for podium awards. No refunds, no rollovers, and no transfers to other participants.
A medal is optional by add-on at registration; every finisher receives a yearly enamel pin. Dogs are allowed on leash only; off-leash dogs will result in a DNF for the owner. Headphones are permitted, and participants should be courteous to other park users. Trash cans are provided at aid stations and at some trail locations.
