No Man's Land Trail Run
No Man's Land Trail Run takes place at Sam Houston Jones State Park near Lake Charles, LA. Distances offered include:
- 50K
- 25K
- 7.78 Miler
The primary course is an 8 mile loop around the park perimeter that follows the Riverwalk Trail, Eagle Scout Trail, Purple Haze Trail, Nature Conservancy Trail, Old Blue Trail, and Stagecoach Trail. About 90% of the route is on trail and 10% on road. One loop has approximately 125 feet of elevation gain and descent. Trails include many roots, continuous twists and turns, water crossings and bridges, and remain mostly single track.
The course will be marked with flags as confidence markers and arrows at turns. Aid is provided at the Start/Finish pavilion and at an aid station near mile 4 offering water, electrolytes and snacks; portable and on-site restroom options are available at the pavilion but not at the remote aid station.
For 2026 the default registration option is no-medal; runners may add a medal to their registration. Every entrant receives a newly designed enamel pin representing the finisher medal for that year. An 8 Mile Ruck division is offered in addition to the run, with dry weight recommendations of 30lbs for people >150lbs and 20lbs for people 150 lbs and restrictions on heavier or non-ruck gear.
Pacers are allowed for the 50K only for the final two loops, one pacer per runner, and a pacer bib is required. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each distance and a DFL award is given for each distance. No age group awards are offered. Distance drops are allowed if the race directors are notified prior to the race start. No refunds, rollovers, or transfers are permitted. Nearby lodging is available in the greater Lake Charles area and the state park offers cabins and RV spots. Dogs are allowed on leash, headphones are permitted, and trash cans are provided at aid stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
