No Man's Land Trail Run

No Man's Land Trail Run takes place in Sam Houston Jones State Park near Lake Charles, LA. The event offers multiple distances and uses trails that follow the Calcasieu River, a historical boundary once called No Man's Land. Local legend says pirates used the area and that treasure may be hidden along nearby waterways.

The primary loop is an 8 mile perimeter course that uses the Riverwalk Trail, Eagle Scout Trail, Purple Haze Trail, Nature Conservancy Trail, Old Blue Trail, and Stagecoach Trail. About 90% of the course is on trail and about 10% is on road. One loop has roughly 125 feet of elevation gain and loss. Trails include roots, continuous twists and turns, and water crossings and bridges. For 2026 the course may be slightly different due to trail changes; final routing will be posted when available. The route is marked with flags and arrows.

Two aid stations are provided: a fully furnished start and finish pavilion with restrooms, and a manned station near mile four offering water, electrolytes, and snacks. Pacers are allowed only for the 50K and only for the final two loops. Runners must carry their own gear. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers per distance and one DFL award per distance. No age group awards. Drops in distance are allowed with prior notice. There are no refunds, rollovers, or transfers. Camping and nearby hotels are available; the state park offers cabins and RV spots. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
