Night of the Undead - Zombie Run
Night of the Undead is presented as Wigan's first zombie run and takes place at Haigh Woodland Park. The event is a mixed terrain five kilometre run, jog or walk on marked trails that include open drives and wooded paths. The route follows 2.5 laps of the park and measures approximately 5.15 km.
Participants begin on the drive in front of Haigh Hall and continue into the park's woodland trails. The course includes designated zombie zones where actors portraying the undead move freely within the route.
Each participant receives a belt fitted with three flags that represent lives. Zombies attempt to remove these flags; finishing with at least one flag is recorded as having survived, while finishing with no flags is recorded as infected. The organiser describes the event as a fun run rather than a competitive race, but all participants will be manually timed and their times published online.
Finishers receive an exclusive glow in the dark event medal at the finish line. Entry is available for a fee of £23.05. The event location is Haigh Woodland Park, Haigh, Wigan, WN2 1PE. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
