Three Counties Trot
The Three Counties Trot is an annual trail running event held in November, organized by the Billinge Running Club. The race covers a distance of 5 miles and takes place on a route consisting of scenic trails that can be muddy depending on the weather conditions. The start of the race is located at the Janet Lalley fields, situated across from Tontine Park.
The event headquarters and registration are based at The Delph Tavern in Orrell. Facilities available at the registration point include a bag drop area and access to toilets. Runners can also find tea and coffee in this area. Participants should note that there are no toilet facilities at the actual race start line.
Parking for the event is provided at Upholland High School (WN5 7AL), which is a short walk from the registration point. The school car park opens in the morning and must be vacated by the mid-afternoon. The Delph Tavern car park is reserved strictly for participant drop-offs and event staff.
The course is fully marshalled and marked with flags and signs to guide runners. Before the race begins, a briefing is held alongside a minute of silence to observe Remembrance weekend. Other clubs are encouraged to bring flags or banners for display at the finish area. Following the completion of the run, an awards ceremony and results presentation take place at the event headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
