New Bedford Half Marathon
The New Bedford Half Marathon takes place in downtown New Bedford, MA on March 21, 2027. The 50th anniversary edition is hosted by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and has served as a championship race for the USATF-New England Grand Prix Series multiple times. The event is USATF certified.
The race follows a fast, single-loop 13.1-mile urban course that begins and ends on Pleasant Street in front of City Hall. The route runs through the city’s North and South Ends and includes views of the waterfront, Clarks Cove, and the harbor.
Logistics include early bib and apparel pickup at the New Bedford YMCA the day before, and race day bib and apparel pickup at the same location. Two city-owned parking garages offer complimentary parking on race day: Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Theater Parking Garage. Gear check will be available in the registration area.
Aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and portable toilets are positioned along the course (approximate mile markers 1.5, 3.2, 5.0, 8.3, 10.5, 12.4). The event has a 3-hour finish time limit. Runners who do not meet intermediate cutoffs may be diverted to a shortened course or offered transportation back to the start/finish per city requirements.
Finishers receive a medal at the finish line. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in standard five-year age groups.
