New Bedford Half Marathon
The 50th annual New Bedford Half Marathon, hosted by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, is scheduled for March 21, 2027 in New Bedford, MA. The event is a USATF certified half marathon covering 13.1 mile on a single-loop urban course that begins and ends on Pleasant Street in front of City Hall.
The route passes through the city’s North and South Ends and offers views of the waterfront, Clarks Cove, and the harbor. Aid stations are located at miles 1.5, 3.2, 5.0, 8.3, 10.5 and 12.4 and will provide water, Gatorade and port-o-johns. Additional bathroom facilities are provided near the start and finish areas.
The race has a 3 hour time limit. Runners who do not reach mile 7 within 100 minutes will be diverted to a shortened course to rejoin the finish. Runners who do not reach mile 10 within 140 minutes will be stopped and offered transportation. Gear check is available in the registration area.
Early bib and apparel pick up is available the day before the race at the New Bedford YMCA; additional bib and apparel pick up is available at the YMCA on race day. Two city owned parking lots Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Theater Parking Garage are open and free of charge on race day. Finishers receive medals at the finish line. Awards are given to the top three male and female in each five year age group and must be claimed at the awards tent. Free digital race photos and finisher video links are posted 1 to 2 business days after the event. Official results are published on millenniumrunning.com. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick are listed as the official charity partner and the event also offers a virtual option with bibs and shirts limited to the first 2,000 combined in person and virtual participants.
