About the race
The Nanaimo Open Water Swim and SwimRun Challenge is a multi-event weekend held on August 8, 2027 at Westwood Lake Park, 381 Westwood Road, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Mudskipper Events and Canaqua Sports present open water swim races, SwimRun stages around the lake, and a trail run.

- Open Water Swim: 1.0 km, 3.0 km, 5.0 km
- SwimRun: single and double lap format around Westwood Lake, about 9.5 km per lap
- Trail Run: 10 km course around Westwood Lake
Race operations note that swim caps are provided and must be worn for identification and safety, and a race number will be inked on the upper back or shoulder of each participant. Water temperatures at this time of year are listed as between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. Wetsuits are optional for the swim events. Basic onsite facilities include washrooms and food service.
The event is sanctioned by the provincial triathlon association; participants must hold Triathlon British Columbia membership or obtain a day membership for an additional fee. Sumarpo Wetsuits is named as an event sponsor, and Canaqua Sports lists a partnership with Childhood Cancer Canada for awareness and fundraising.
