Nanaimo Open Water Swim and Mudskipper SwimRun at Westwood Lake
Canaqua Sports stages the event on August 9, 2026 at Westwood Lake Park, 381 Westwood Road, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. The day includes open water swim races, the Mudskipper individual SwimRun, and a 10K trail run around the lake.

Each lap of the open water swim course is 1.0 km.
The Mudskipper SwimRun offers one-lap and two-lap options in and around Westwood Lake, with distances shown as 9.5 km and 19.0 km. The one-lap course covers stages 1 to 5; the two-lap option repeats those stages.
The Nanaimo 10K Trail Run uses the same general course as the SwimRunners and is split into two parts: a 5.8 km loop around Westwood Lake and a 4.0 km out-and-back segment.
Practical and safety notes: washrooms and food will be available. Swim caps are provided and must be worn for identification; a race number will be inked on each participant’s upper back or shoulder. Water temperature is expected between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. There is no rain date; a delay or cancellation would occur only in the event of lightning. Wetsuits are optional.
Event materials include SwimRun equipment guidance, noting wetsuit options, the need for shoes suitable for wet trail running, goggles, hand paddles, and pull buoys. Flotation aids are subject to a size limit of 100 cm by 60 cm. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
