Nanaimo Open Water Swim and SwimRun Challenge
The event takes place at Westwood Lake Park in Nanaimo, British Columbia. It is the second annual edition, organized by Canaqua Sports.
Two distinct types of competitions are offered. The Nanaimo Open Water Swim features open water swimming distances of 1 km, 3 km, and 5 km in Westwood Lake. The 1 km loop is repeated for the longer distances.
The Mudskipper SwimRun Nanaimo is a combined swimming and running event. Two individual distances are available: 10 km (one lap) and 20 km (two laps). The event takes place over multiple stages in and around Westwood Lake.
For the SwimRun, wetsuits are optional. Swim caps are provided and mandatory. The water temperature can range from 15 to 18 °C. SwimRun participants may use specific equipment like hand paddles or pull buoys.
Facilities are provided on-site, including washrooms and food. A mandatory race briefing is held before the events start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
