Hillbilly Hustle 50K
The event is a trail race taking place on and around Te'tuxw'tun (Mount Benson) in Nanaimo with a start at Westwood Lake Park. It is offered in three in person distances.
- 17 km course with about 1000 m of elevation gain.
- 35 km route following much of the 50 km course.
- 50 km course with 2800 m of elevation gain.
The 50 km route ascends and descends Te'tuxw'tun twice and uses a mix of single track, double track, service road and open rock bluffs. There are five aid stations at 8 km, 19 km, 25 km, 32 km and 39 km. Drop bags are available at the 32 km aid station. Due to remote locations, crew access on course is not permitted except for a hike in option to the summit aid station; the summit aid is passed twice on the 50 km route.
Aid station cutoffs for the 50 km are listed as follows Aid Station 2 4 hours, Aid Station 3 6 hours, Aid Station 4 7.5 hours and Aid Station 5 10 hours. For the 35 km the cutoffs are Aid Station 2 4 hours and Aid Station 3 6 hours. The 17 km course has an 8 hour finish cutoff. Pricing is distance dependent with early bird rates available until December 15 and higher rates thereafter until registration closes.
