Westwood Lake Triathlon : May 10, 2026
The Westwood Lake Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Westwood Lake Park in Nanaimo, BC. The event is the 9th annual edition and offers multiple race options:
- Sprint
- Standard
- Standard Aquabike
Course and event details
The swim starts off the main beach and is a counter-clockwise loop marked with large orange and yellow buoys. Swim distances are 750 m for the Sprint and 1,500 m for the Standard (two loops). Expected water temperature is 16-17 degrees C. Swim cut-off times are applied; athletes still in the water after the cut-off will be removed.
Transition is located at the main beach parking lot, secured with fencing. Bikes are racked by race number, distance and age group. All athletes use an initial shared 10 km section on the bike course. Bike routes are single-loop out-and-back formats that travel on roads west of Hwy 19 through rural areas including Jingle Pot Rd, Brannen Lake and Dumont Rd. Riders must keep to the right and display their bike frame number.
The run uses the Westwood Lake Trail with each loop measuring 5.2 km; Sprint is one loop, Standard is two loops. There are stocked aid stations on the run course and instructions ask that all garbage be dropped at aid stations.
Entries are non-refundable; an optional enhanced refund protection program is available. Awards are given by five-year age groups M/F and top overall placings, plus awards for aquabike and relay categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
