Bastion 12K
Bastion 12K takes place at Aspengrove School in Lantzville as part of the Vancouver Island Race Series. The event offers multiple distance options:
- 5 km
- 12 km
- half marathon
The course runs through rural roads, is gently rolling, and is described as nearly traffic free. The route includes only two 180 degree turns. The event was moved in a previous year due to heavy snowfall; organizers plan this edition in Lantzville.
Race registration is capped at 800 participants. Registration fees include an administrative fee but do not include the 5% GST. Different pricing windows apply for regular and late registration, and online registrations are subject to an online processing fee.
The races are open to runners, racewalkers, walkers, and wheelchair athletes only. Roller blades, strollers, and recreational cycling are not permitted except for designated official cyclists. Pets are not allowed except registered guide dogs. Visually impaired participants accompanied by a guide or guide dog must start at the back of the field. The use of headphones is discouraged and a participant may be disqualified if headphones contribute to impeding others or emergency response.
Organizers will follow Provincial Health Orders and guidance from BC Athletics; proof of vaccination or mask requirements for indoor access may apply depending on orders in effect at the time of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
