My Funny Valentine
My Funny Valentine is held on the beachfront promenade at Southbourne (SoBo), to the east of Bournemouth, with coastal views. The surface is tarmacked and the course is flat with no elevation gain or loss.
The event follows an out and back route along the promenade and allows participants to choose their own distance. Distances include:
- 5K to ultra-marathon, participants choose their distance
- Lap length: 5.3 km (3.28 miles), out and back
All finishers of a lap or more receive a medal. The route is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers and therefore counts as a road marathon for 100 Marathon Club purposes. Distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under in line with UK Athletics rules.
Race registration includes number pick-up on the day before starting. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start and finish of each lap with a selection of savoury and sweet items; there is also an area to leave personal items. No plastic cups are provided. Public toilets and showers are available along the promenade.
