My Funny Valentine
My Funny Valentine is a road running event on the beachfront promenade at Southbourne (SoBo), to the east of Bournemouth. The course follows an out-and-back route along the prom on tarmacked surfaces and is level with no elevation gain or loss.
Participants may choose their own distance, from 5K up to ultra-marathon distances. Each lap measures 5.3 km (3.28 miles). All finishers of one lap or more receive a medal. The route is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers and counts as a road marathon for 100 marathon club purposes.
Number pick-up takes place on the day at race registration before starting. An aid and drinks table is located at the start/finish of each lap offering a selection of savoury and sweet items. There is an area to leave personal items. Organisers do not provide plastic cups.
Public toilets and showers are available along the promenade. Transport notes include paid and on-street parking near the start/finish, the nearest carpark at Warren Edge BH6 4BE, regular Morebus services to the local area, and nearby train stations at Christchurch and Pokesdown for Boscombe. Final instructions will be sent by email before the event. Please note UK Athletics distance restrictions apply for participants aged 20 or under.
