Event overview
MTC CYMRUN is a six-day end-to-end running challenge across Wales, scheduled for 14–19 April 2026. The route runs from Holyhead on Anglesey to Barry Island via Cardiff and follows much of National Cycle Route 8. The total distance is about 256 miles, divided into six daily stages. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 and the event is quadrennial, next returning in 2030.

Daily distances:
- Day 1: 37.6 miles
- Day 2: 50.3 miles
- Day 3: 47.2 miles
- Day 4: 46.4 miles
- Day 5: 39.8 miles
- Day 6: 34.9 miles
Accommodation and meals are provided by the organiser from the end of Day 1 to the end of Day 5; competitors must arrange their own accommodation at Holyhead before the event and after finishing at Barry Island. Evening meals and breakfasts are included as described; rooms are generally shared. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants only, emailed about four weeks before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices with SOS buttons and provides real-time tracking during the race.
Entry, rules and kit
Total entry fee is listed at £1,200 with a £300 deposit option and staged instalments. A charity entry option is available with a £150 deposit and a minimum fundraising target of £2,500. All entry fees are non-refundable. Entrants must be at least 20 years old on the start day. A minimum average speed of 4 mph is enforced; competitors falling below this on consecutive days will be withdrawn. No competitor is permitted to continue on course after 22:00. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch and spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
