Mount Wilson Trail Race (May 23, 2026)
The Mount Wilson Trail Race returns to Sierra Madre on May 23, 2026. The event uses the full 8.6 mile mountain course from Kersting Court up the Mount Wilson Trail to Orchard Camp and back. The organizers anticipate about 350 Mount Wilson Trail Race participants and 125 children in a Kids Fun Run held along Baldwin Avenue.
A community training program supports the event. The program runs for 15 weeks, meets on Saturdays, is free to attend, does not require preregistration, and is open to participants aged 14 and older.
The race and the surrounding trails have required extensive repairs after the Eaton Fire and subsequent atmospheric river rains in 2025 and 2026. All trail labor is provided by volunteers. The Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund pays for equipment, materials, supplies, and tools used by the volunteer Trail Maintenance Crew. Donations to the fund are tax deductible and donors receive an acknowledgment letter. Neither the City of Sierra Madre nor the U.S. Forest Service provides funding for labor or supplies for these repairs.
