Move Free Moxie Mile World Championships
The Move Free Moxie Mile is a running event in Bar Harbor, Maine on Wabanaki Land on October 9, 2026. The event uses a 0.25 mile loop on the College of the Atlantic campus and Eden Street sidewalk. Approximately half the loop is pavement and half is gravel, and the course has minimal elevation. The drinking transition zone is located near the College of the Atlantic whale skull at the campus main entrance. Parking is available on campus or within easy walking distance from town.
Rules require that participants drink one can of Moxie each 0.25 mile lap and finish the entire can before starting the next lap. The event notes that vomiting leads to disqualification.
Distances and divisions:
- Solo Mile Division: four 0.25 mile laps (one mile) and four Moxie cans
- Relay Division: one mile total, four Moxies, teams of 2 to 4 members
- Solo Endurance Division: repeat one lap and one Moxie as many times as possible
Endurance laps must be completed in under ten minutes to remain in the competition. Participants may enter both the Solo Mile and Solo Endurance divisions; those entrants run their first mile and then may continue in endurance format. Prizes are to be determined, with awards planned for champions and for team names and costumes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
