About the race
Military Heroes 5k/10k Run is an annual fundraising event held in the Town of Westlake at Solana Plaza and the nearby trail and path. The event supports veterans who suffered injuries while serving and has raised and donated over $2.8 million during the first 14 years. The organizer notes this is the 15th annual run and guarantees a race t shirt to the first 300 runners.
Distances and options:
- 5K about 3.4 miles, course not certified
- 10K about 6.2 miles, follows the 5K then continues on a different out and back trail
- Fun Run unspecified distance, not chip timed
- Virtual / Sleep In Run virtual option, receives shirt and finisher medal
The 5K course is a loop with some shade. The 10K follows the 5K for about one mile then branches onto a hilly out and back section with some shade. The 5K and 10K are chip timed by DoMore Race Services; participants receive a bib with a disposable chip. Fun Run participants are not chip timed. Finisher medals are provided to all participants.
Awards include overall and master male and female finishers and age group awards three deep for both 5K and 10K across multiple age categories. Packet pickup is at Bear Creek Running Co., 121 Rufe Snow Dr. #103, Keller TX. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
