Military Heroes Run
The Military Heroes Run celebrates its 15th anniversary in Westlake, Texas. This community event raises funds to support service veterans who have sustained injuries during their military service. Over many years, the organization has contributed significantly to veteran support programs.
The event takes place at Solana Plaza, with participants running on local trails and paths. While the primary routes comprise the 5k and 10k categories, specific registration options are available for active military personnel, veterans, reserves, and youth aged 14 and under. A non-timed Fun Run is also available for those who prefer to walk or move through the course without a specific distance requirement.
The available distances include:
- 5k (approximately 3.4 miles)
- 10k (6.2 miles)
The 5k course follows a loop and features sections with shade. The 10k route follows the 5k path for the first mile before branching off onto a different section of the trail for an out-and-back portion. The 10k course is described as hilly with some shade.
Both the 5k and 10k are chip-timed using disposable bib sensors. All participants across all categories receive a finisher medal, and the first 350 registered runners are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Awards are presented to overall male and female finishers, masters, and the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 14 and under to 80 and over.
Parking is located in a designated structure at 1400 Solana Blvd, as there is no parking available directly at the event site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
