Midweek Aquathlon
An Aquathlon is a continuous two stage race with swimming followed by running. The event takes place at DA1 5PR and uses the lakes for both disciplines. The swim is held in the south lake and the run follows laps around the lakes.
- 650 m open water swim in the south lake
- 5.7 km three lap run around the lakes
Five weekday races are scheduled across the season with dates listed as 13 May, 10 June, 8 July, 12 August and 9 September. Entry fees are shown in a range from £15 to £17. Entry is limited to 40 participants for water safety.
Participants must have prior open water swimming experience and are required to wear a bright swimming cap. If a swimmer gets into difficulty during the swim they should roll onto their back and raise one arm; assistance will be provided. The ground at the lake exit can be wet and slippery, so caution is advised.
Car parking is provided at the Beacon Pub and is a short stroll to registration and the start. Swimming in the lakes is forbidden except during events or authorised open water training sessions; unauthorised swimming is treated as trespass and may lead to removal from the site and disqualification from future events.
