Obstacle Course Racing Championship
The British OCR Championship is the competitive highlight of the Nuclear Rush event series. Sanctioned and supported by British Obstacle Sports, this championship is designed for elite and professional athletes to compete for national titles. The course is set across rugged farmland terrain in Brentwood, Essex, featuring a landscape of mud, woods, rivers, and lakes.
Participants compete on a course of over 12 km, which utilizes the standard Rush route supplemented by additional sections and obstacles specifically designed for this championship. The race includes more than 60 obstacles in total. All obstacles on the course are mandatory; competitors must complete each one to move forward and may attempt them multiple times if necessary. Failure to complete an obstacle results in a penalty.
Race Categories and Requirements
The event is open to participants aged 18 and over. While designed for high-level athletes, there are no specific qualification requirements for any category. Available race waves include:
- Elite (male and female)
- Age groups (ranging from 18-34 to 60+)
- Competitive Para
- Competitive International (for overseas athletes)
- Non-competitive open waves
All competitors in the championship waves must be current members of British Obstacle Sports at the time of the event. The race serves as a qualifier for both the OCR European Championships and the OCR World Championships.
