Mercer County Twilight QUAD - Fredonia 5K (Event 3)
The Fredonia 5K is the third event in the Mercer County Twilight QUAD, a summer series marking its 43rd anniversary and described as the oldest continuous running series in the region. The series has recorded over 50,000 finishers through its first 140 events.
Location and course details: the race is held in downtown Fredonia, PA. The course is 5,000 meters (3.1 miles), out-and-back with rolling terrain and a gradual half mile downhill finish. All 5K events are chip timed, with timing mats at miles 1, 2, and 3.
Participation and awards: the event is open to runners and walkers; there are age-group awards from 11 and under up to 70+. Top overall and masters finishers are recognized, and the top three in each age group receive awards. Walkers do not have a separate award division.
Series and apparel: runners who complete all four QUAD events receive a commemorative award; typically over 150 participants complete all four events each year. Specialty QUAD shirts and race shirts are available for purchase on site on a first come first serve basis, with limited sizes.
Youth events: each event includes a half mile children's run. Young participants receive a finisher's ribbon and youth awards are organized by age. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
