Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K and Kids Fun Runs
The event takes place in Johnston, Iowa at 6300 Pioneer Parkway and includes a chip-timed 5K plus two untimed kids fun runs. Registration for the races carries a fee that generally includes a short-sleeve dri-fit T-shirt. Shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations completed after May 21, 2026.

- 0.62 miles around the lake
- 3.12 miles for the Mayor's Run for the Trails 5K
Fee structure and timing notes are published for each race. The 5K race fee is listed at $30 plus a $2.80 sign up fee and increases to $35 after May 21, 2026. Kids fun run registration is listed at $10 plus a $1.60 sign up fee and increases to $15 after June 3, 2026. Each 5K participant will have chip timing. Kids' fun runs are untimed; registered children receive a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a medal. Children may also run the kids' dash on race day without the swag at no registration cost.
Packets are available for pickup the Friday before the event at Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway, with packets also available on race morning. T-shirts and medals are provided and after-race food will be available from a local grocer. Only 5K runners are eligible for age-group and raffle prizes across listed age categories.
