RUNorwalk
RUNorwalk is an athletic event held at the McAninch Sports Complex in Norwalk, Iowa. The event features multiple distances and formats to accommodate different types of participants, including runners and walkers. Participants can choose from several distinct categories:
- 10K Run: A 6.2 mile race for runners.
- 5K Run/Walk: A 3.1 mile course open to both runners and walkers.
- Youth 5K Run or Walk: A 3.1 mile event specifically for participants aged 5 to 11.
- 2 Mile Walk: A dedicated walking event.
- Kids Fun Run: A short run for children aged eight and under.
The races utilize professional chip timing services to track participant results. The courses take participants through various areas of Norwalk, following specific mapped routes for the 5K and 10K distances. The Kids Fun Run starts after the conclusion of the 5K event, with the gathering point located at the finish line. No registration is required for the children's fun run.
A portion of the proceeds from the event supports the Norwalk Easter Public Library. Registered participants who sign up by the designated October deadline receive a race shirt. Packet pick up is available on the days preceding the event at the Norwalk Area Chamber offices on Sunset Drive, or at the sports complex on the morning of the races.
