Mary Cleary 5k (Cruisin Into Waterville)
The Mary Cleary 5k is a community road race in Waterville, NY, held to support the American Cancer Foundation. The distance is 3.1 miles and the route begins at the Fireman's Baseball Field and proceeds through the library driveway, follows downtown streets and finishes at the Waterville Public Library.
The course runs up Madison Street, continues via Terry Place and Tower Street onto Main Street, then follows Buell Avenue and West Bacon Street, where a water station is located. Runners cross Route 12, continue on East Bacon Street, then turn onto Elmwood Avenue and White Street before the finish.
Registration opens on July 10 and closes on September 18; the regular registration fee is $25.00. The first 75 registrants receive a race day T-shirt. A promo code for a $5.00 discount is available for WCS athletes. Online registration closes the day before the race; day-of registration and packet pickup take place at the Old Firemen's Pavilion, with parking at the library and the Fireman's Baseball Field.
The event is listed as number 29 in the Route 20 Road Challenge Series. Awards are given to the overall male and female finishers and to the top three in the following age groups: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
