Jessica's Heroes 5k Run/Walk
The Jessica's Heroes 5k Run/Walk is an annual community event held in Oneida, New York. The course is located at Allen Park and travels through local streets. This event serves as a fundraiser to support local cancer patients residing in Madison or Oneida County, or those receiving treatment at specified regional cancer centers.
The event features several participation options:
- 5k Run
- 5k Walk
- Kid's Fun Run (for children aged 12 and under)
The gathering includes a special ceremony dedicated to survivors and those who have battled cancer. During this ceremony, names are spoken aloud and a bell is rung to honor these individuals. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team. Registration included a participant shirt if completed by the designated deadline in late August. Activities at the park also include a basket raffle.
The event is organized by the Jessica's Heroes Foundation, which was established to honor the life and charitable work of Jessica Froelick. Proceeds from the race are used to provide financial assistance to patients to help manage bills during their medical treatment. To date, the foundation has provided support to over 1,200 individuals through these efforts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
