Event overview
The Martinsburg Sprint & Super Sprint is a multi-discipline event on July 18, 2026, at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The program includes Sprint and Super Sprint triathlon distances, a Sprint duathlon, an Aquabike (Sprint distance), and relay options for the Sprint triathlon. The minimum age to participate is 15.
Distances
- Sprint swim: 300 yds
- Super Sprint swim: 150 yds
- Sprint bike: 12 Miles
- Super Sprint bike: 6 Miles
- Sprint run: 5K
- Super Sprint run: 2.5K
Course and race procedures
The swim takes place in a 25-yard, six-lane outdoor pool using a time trial start and an in-water start from the shallow end. Competitors will complete a snake swim; flip turns are not allowed. Timing chips are worn on the left ankle and are issued before the swim. The bike course is not closed to vehicle traffic; police and course marshals will control traffic and direct participants. Athletes must complete the required number of loops and obey traffic laws.
Transition area rules require bikes to be hung by the seat on the rack and personal items placed by the front wheel. No glass is allowed in transition and participants may not ride bicycles inside transition. Helmets approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission are required for cycling.
Awards and spectators
All finishers receive a medal. Sprint and Super Sprint awards include top finishers by gender and age-group awards (15-25, 26-50, 51+). Aquabike and duathlon award top finishers by gender only. Relay awards are given for All Male, All Female, and Co-ed teams. Spectators must stay off the course and may not provide assistance to participants.
