Event Overview
The Martinsburg Sprint & Super Sprint is a multi-sport event featuring several race formats. The event takes place at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Events and Distances
Multiple events are offered:
- Sprint Triathlon: Swim 300 yds, bike 12 miles, run 5K
- Super Sprint Triathlon: Swim 150 yds, bike 6 miles, run 2.5K
- Duathlon (Sprint Distance): Run-bike-run event
- Aquabike (Sprint Distance): Swim-bike event
- Relay - Sprint Triathlon: Team event with options to create or join a team
Course Details
The swim takes place in a 25-yard, six-lane outdoor pool with a time-trial start. Participants complete a "snake swim" and must walk on the pool deck to the transition area. Flip turns are not permitted.
The bike course is not closed to vehicle traffic, but police will control intersections and course marshals will direct participants. Runners will follow a marked course with marshals at turns.
Race Day Information
The minimum age for the Sprint and Super Sprint events is 15. Packet pickup is available on the Friday before race day at the venue or on race morning. A pre-race talk is scheduled for Friday evening, and a mandatory briefing occurs on race morning.
All participants receive a finisher medal. Awards are given for top finishers by gender and for age groups (15-25, 26-50, 51+) in the Sprint and Super Sprint events. Awards are also presented for top relay teams (All Male, All Female, Co-ed) and top finishers by gender in the Aquabike and Duathlon events.
Spectators are welcome but must stay clear of the official racecourse and are not permitted in the transition area during the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
