Lock 2 Lock Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K
The 5th Annual Lock 2 Lock event takes place in Williamsport, Maryland. The courses are set entirely along the C&O Canal Towpath, following a flat out-and-back route between Lock 44 and Lock 43. The terrain features very minimal elevation changes, with the marathon gain reaching no more than 40 feet.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
The marathon course is BQ certified (MD22006NP), allowing participants to use their finishing times for Boston Marathon qualification. Runners in the marathon complete the out-and-back loop twice, while half marathon and 10K participants complete a single loop or a shorter turn-around.
Aid stations are positioned along the towpath at regular intervals. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, pickle juice, and various snacks. A designated area at the start and finish line is available for participants to leave personal items such as specialty bottles or nutrition.
Parking is located at Cushwa Basin or Williamsport Park, both situated approximately 0.25 miles from the lockhouse area. All participants receive a race t-shirt, a custom bib, and a finisher award.
