Event overview
The Lock 2 Lock Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Williamsport, Maryland. All races are held entirely along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath. The start and finish area is at Lock 44. This is the fifth annual running of the event.

Course and logistics
The course is Boston-qualifying certified, course number MD22006NP. The marathon uses an out-and-back loop that runs about 6.56 miles one way toward Lock 43 and is completed twice. The half marathon completes the same out-and-back loop once. The 10K is a 3.1 mile out-and-back on the same towpath. Maximum course elevation is listed as no more than 40 feet for the marathon, 20 feet for the half marathon, and 10 feet for the 10K.
Aid stations are located at multiple mile markers and at the finish line and are stocked with water, Gatorade Endurance, pickle juice, potato chips, and other snacks. Packet pick-up is offered at local locations in the days before the race and at Lock 44 on race day. Parking is assigned to Cushwa Basin or Williamsport Park, with very limited parking at Lock 44.
