About the race
The Maple & Cheese 5K takes place in the Granary District of Salt Lake City, Utah on August 15, 2026 as part of the Salt Lake Criterium festival. The Salt Lake Criterium is a weekend festival of professional and amateur bike racing. A criterium, also called a "crit", is a high speed road race held on a closed course. The 5K run uses the bike race course and occurs before the cycling action begins.
The wider festival day includes bike races throughout the day, an expo, food vendors, a beer garden, live music and other on-site activities. Packet pick-up is offered Friday, August 14 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and there is day-of packet pick-up Saturday, August 15 from 6:00am to 7:00am. Strollers are welcome; participants should be mindful of others on the course.
