Ragnar Trail Soldier Hollow

Ragnar Trail Soldier Hollow is a team relay event held at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center within Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway, Utah. Situated at an elevation of 5,400 feet, the venue is an Olympic site located approximately one hour from Salt Lake City. The course consists of smooth singletrack, rolling doubletrack, and ridgeline trails with views of Mount Timpanogos and Deer Creek Reservoir.

Participants compete in teams across three distinct formats:

  • Standard Team: 8 runners completing a relay over 2 days and 1 night.
  • Ultra Team: 4 runners completing a relay over 2 days and 1 night.
  • Sprint Team: 3 runners completing the course in 1 day.

The full relay course covers a total of 120 miles, with an average of 15 miles per runner for standard teams. The route features a total elevation gain of 28,880 feet, resulting in approximately 3,610 feet of climbing per participant.

The event hub, known as Ragnar Village, serves as the central camping and transition area. Amenities include indoor restrooms at the Nordic Center, on-site food trucks, a cafe, and a gear store. Evening activities include a bonfire with s'mores and a movie night. Teams receive finisher shirts and medals upon completion. The weather during late August typically averages highs in the mid-70s to low 80s, with nighttime temperatures dropping to the mid-50s.
