Wasatch Trail Run Series – Brighton

The event offers two trail race options on routes that begin near the Main Brighton Lodge / Alpine Rose at Brighton Resort. Courses follow single track, service roads and dirt roads through the Brighton area and include ridge views and lake sections.

  • Short Course: about 5.5 miles and 1200 ft elevation gain.
  • Long Course: about 7.5 miles and 1500 ft elevation gain.

The Short Course climbs from the base by the Alpine Rose to Dog Lake, continues on single track to a ridge overlooking the Heber Valley, then descends on a dirt road. About a mile down that road there is a hard right onto single track that winds roughly two miles to the bottom of the Great Western ski lift before a final sprint to the finish.

The Long Course follows a dirt service road to the base of Millicent, climbs the service road for about one mile, then turns onto Brighton Lakes Trail, traverses the Millicent boulder field and reaches Lake Mary. The route skirts Dog Lake and climbs toward Clayton Peak before turning at the ridge and descending to the same single track into the bottom of the Great Western lift and the finish.

Courses may be altered. Post race yoga on the grass is offered. Brighton is located at the end of Big Cottonwood Canyon; the course start is on the east side of the resort parking lot at 8302 S Brighton Loop Rd, Brighton, UT 84121. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
