Wasatch Trail Run Series – Brighton
The event is staged at Brighton Resort, located at the end of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It takes place on July 29 and August 26. The course area begins at the Main Brighton Lodge, the Alpine Rose on the east side of the parking lot.
Distances:
- Short Course: about 5.5 miles and 1200 feet of elevation gain.
- Long Course: about 7.5 miles and 1500 feet of elevation gain.
The short course starts at the Brighton base by the Alpine Rose, climbs to Dog Lake, continues on single track to a ridge overlooking the Heber Valley, then follows a dirt road for about a mile before turning hard right onto single track that winds more than two miles down to the bottom of the Great Western ski lift and finishes with a short sprint.
The long course also starts at the Alpine Rose, follows a dirt service road to the base of Millicent, climbs the service road for about one mile, then turns onto the Brighton Lakes Trail. It traverses the Millicent boulder field, climbs to Lake Mary, skirts Dog Lake, approaches Clayton Peak but turns at the ridge, and follows the same dirt road and single track to the bottom of the Great Western lift before the finish.
Courses may be altered. GPX course files are provided by the organizer. Directions note that Big Cottonwood Canyon begins at Fort Union Boulevard and Wasatch Boulevard and continues about 14 miles to Brighton. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
