Event Overview
The Lyme WNY 5K is a run/walk event scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Orchard Park, New York. It starts and finishes at Wayland Brewery. The 5 km course is USATF-certified. The event aims to support Lyme disease awareness and prevention, with all proceeds going to Lyme WNY to provide grants for those in financial need of treatment assistance.
Course & Logistics
The race begins at 9:30 AM. There will be one water stop near the midpoint of the course, and bottled water will be available at the finish line. Free parking is available at or near the start/finish area, though early arrival is encouraged as over 400 participants are expected. Participants are asked not to park in church lots.
Registration & Details
- 5K Run/Walk: Registration is $30, increasing to $35 after April 30. Participants who register before May 20 are guaranteed an official event shirt. Packet pickup begins at the brewery at 8:00 AM on race day, with an early pickup option available at the same location on Friday, May 29, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Post-Race & Awards
A post-race celebration will feature live music. Lyme WNY will hold a basket raffle inside Wayland Brewery after the awards ceremony. The brewery will donate $1 from every "Especial" beer purchased on May 29 and 31 back to the organization.
Awards will be given to:
- Overall Male and Female winners.
- Top Male and Female Masters (40+).
- The top three males and females in 5-year age groups up to 80+.
A new team competition awards the "Lyme WNY BAT Cup" (Big Ass Trophy) to the largest team to finish. The winning team takes home a trophy, and each member receives a replica.
Timing & Policies
Professional RFID timing will be provided. Real-time results will be available via a mobile app, results kiosks, and websites. Free finish line photos and custom finisher certificates are available for download. The event has a no-refund policy.
