Alden 5K Race For Scholarships : Alden, NY
The Alden 5K Race For Scholarships is the 19th annual event held in Alden, New York, with proceeds used to provide scholarship awards to graduates of Alden High School at graduation. The event coincides with the Taste of Alden and includes a post race celebration with food, beverages, live music, and a basket raffle that features Buffalo Bills autographed items.
The event features a 5K run and walk on a USATF certified course (certification number NY18010JJ) with start and finish located in front of Alden High School at 13190 Park Street, Alden, NY 14004. Online registration remains open until the start of the 5K. Race day packet pickup takes place in front of the high school. Registration fees are listed as $30 and $35 on race day. Participants who register by May 15 are guaranteed an official event t shirt in their requested size while supplies last.
A Kids Fun Run on the high school track is offered for children with age based distances:
- 7 years old and younger: 100 meters
- 8 to 10 years old: 400 meters (1/4 mile)
- 11 years and older: 800 meters (1/2 mile)
Cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 are listed for first through third overall male and female. Top three finishers in each published age group will also be recognized. Timing and finish line services use RFID timing with live result access and post race photo and results features. The event policy states there are no refunds and organizers may postpone, reschedule, or offer a virtual alternative if necessary for safety or other reasons.
