Event Overview
The Alden 5K Race For Scholarships is a community run/walk event. It is the 19th annual edition of the event. Proceeds from the race are used to provide scholarship awards to graduates of Alden High School. The event coincides with the annual Taste of Alden festival.
Event Schedule and Location
The 5K run/walk starts at 6:00 PM in front of Alden High School. A Kids Fun Run for participants 12 and under starts at 5:15 PM on the Alden High School track. The event date is Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Packet pickup on race day is in front of Alden High School from 4:30 PM until the race start. The race start and finish are in front of Alden High School at 13190 Park Street, Alden, NY 14004. The 5K course is USATF certified.
Registration and Fees
Registration for the 5K is available online until the race start. The fee is $30 in advance and $35 on race day. Participants who register by May 14th are guaranteed an official event t-shirt in their requested size. A mail-in registration option is also available.
The Kids Fun Run fee is $8. Distances are 100 meters for ages 7 and under, 400 meters for ages 8-10, and 800 meters for ages 11 and older.
Post-Race and Awards
A post-race celebration is held in partnership with the Taste of Alden. It includes food, beverages, live music, and a basket raffle.
Awards are given for the 5K. Cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. The top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups are also recognized.

Parking is available in the High School and Elementary school lots. Professional electronic timing is provided. Results are updated in real-time and can be accessed online or via a mobile app. Finish line photos and custom finisher certificates are available at no charge.
