Lyke Wake Walk W-E (guided/supported)
The event is a guided and supported crossing of the North York Moors following the original challenge route created in 1955. The route runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea coast and is just under 39 miles. The original challenge sets a maximum time of 24 hours to walk between markers; groups typically take 15 to 18 hours to complete this crossing.
Crossings are led by two guides so groups can be split by pace. Open group crossings have a maximum of 14 walkers and are typically 10 to 12. Participants join a WhatsApp group for training tips and group introductions. A full kit list and a training schedule are provided in advance. Free guided training walks are offered on the North York Moors, the North Yorkshire coast and the Dales.
Support on the day includes minibus transfers to the opposite end of the walk, supplied water, unlimited sugar based snacks and blister plasters. Private group bookings are available and organisers may take bookings via other platforms. The organiser provides a surprise gift at the end of the walk and information on terms, cancellations and refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
