Lyke Wake Walk - W-E (guided and supported)
This guided and supported crossing follows the Lyke Wake Walk route across the North York Moors, a route created in 1955 to cross the moors at their widest and highest points. The walk runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea coast and covers just under 39 miles. The traditional challenge is to complete the crossing between markers within a maximum of 24 hours.
Open group crossings are led by two guides and are limited to a maximum of 14 walkers, with groups typically numbering 10 to 12 and split by pace when required. Participants are transferred by minibus to the opposite end of the route before starting the crossing.
Organisers provide practical support during crossings, including water, unlimited sugar based snacks and blister plasters, and a small surprise gift at the finish. Preparatory resources include a full kit list, a suggested training schedule, a WhatsApp group for each date with training tips, and free guided training walks on the North Yorks Moors, the North Yorkshire coast and the Dales.
Entry for these guided crossings is priced at £140 per person with a £70 non-refundable deposit; the remaining balance is due eight weeks before the walk. Private group bookings are also available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
