Hardmoors 26.2: Farndale

This event is part of the Hardmoors 26.2 series, which consists of six trail marathons located in the North York Moors and on the Cleveland Heritage Coastline. The Farndale event offers three circular routes starting from Hutton Le Hole Village Hall: a trail marathon, a half marathon, and a 10k.

Course Information

The courses take in scenery of the North York Moors. There are specific age limits for each distance relative to the event date: the marathon is for participants 18 years or older, the half marathon for those 16 or older, and the 10k for those 10 or older.

Event Details

There are strict time limits to complete the courses: 9 hours for the marathon, 6 hours for the half marathon, and 4 hours for the 10k. A sweeper will be on the course for all three events.

Mandatory Equipment

Participants must carry specific mandatory kit for the duration of the race. For the full and half marathon routes, this includes a printed route description and map, a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a hat and gloves, capacity to carry 500ml of fluid, a survival bag, a foil blanket, and a means to attach the race bib. For the 10k, the required kit is a printed route description and map, a survival bag, a foil blanket, a means to attach the bib, and capacity to carry 500ml of fluid. Kit checks are conducted at registration.

Venue and Parking

The event starts at Hutton Le Hole Village Hall (YO62 6UA). Parking is available in a large field in the centre of Hutton-le-Hole, costing £4 for the day. Over 400 car parking spaces are available. There is also a North York Moors Authority car park outside the village costing £5.50. Camper van/motorhome parking for the Saturday night can be pre-booked for £15 per unit.

Rules and Conditions

Participants must log in with marshals at each checkpoint and notify a marshal immediately if they retire from the race. Littering is prohibited, all gates must be closed, and fences must not be climbed. Dogs are not allowed to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
