Sessay Swift 6km Road Race
The Sessay Swift is a 6 km road race organised by Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers. The 14th edition is scheduled for Wednesday 12th August 2026. The course is described as fast and flat but takes place on public roads with some traffic, so runners must keep left at all times, follow marshals instructions, and avoid wearing headphones. All turns are to the left. As the event takes place in the evening, runners are advised to wear light coloured clothing and to pin their race number to the front of the vest.
Race headquarters are at Sessay Village Hall, postcode YO7 3BE. A luggage area will be available at the hall. The start is about 100 metres from the village hall and the finish is off road within the grounds of the hall, where drinks will be provided. Warming up can be done on the adjacent cricket field.
Chip timing is used for the event. Car parking is arranged on the cricket field next to the village hall with marshals to assist; roadside parking is not permitted because it would be on the course. There are no late entries. Prizes are distributed in the village hall after the race, and no runner may receive more than one prize. Results for previous years are recorded and 2020 did not take place due to Covid. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
