Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon : SilverBackTrails
The event is a trail half marathon of approximately 13.1 miles held on 16 August 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. The route runs over forest tracks and heather clad moorland and includes multiple ascents of Othnesbery, more usually known as Roseberry Topping; there are steep ascents and descents on the course. A five hour cut off applies.
Places are limited to 50 entrants. Entry opens 1 December 2025 and closes 10 August 2026. The entry fee is £20. No entries are permitted on the day; no refunds are given but transfers may be made up to one week before the event. All participants must be 16 or older on the day.
Organisers will provide marshals and flags to aid navigation; each entrant will receive a GPX route and a master route map will be available at registration. There will be a checkpoint offering water, fizzy drinks and snacks on course and the same provisions at the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate featuring part of the route. Optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase via the organiser's club shop at £18.
Entrants must carry mandatory kit and acknowledge this by signing a disclaimer. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff or gloves, an emergency bivvy bag, a charged mobile phone with mapping where possible, at least 500 ml of fluid and 120 g of emergency food, a working compass and an OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. Spot checks may be carried out and competitors without required kit may be withdrawn. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping and participants are responsible for any parking charges.
