Lyke Wake Walk W-E (guided/supported)

The Lyke Wake Walk was created in 1955 to cross the North Yorks Moors at its widest and highest points. The guided and supported crossing runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea coast.

The organiser's route is just under 39 miles across moorland in the North York Moors National Park. The original challenge is to walk between the markers within a maximum of 24 hours. Groups on the organiser's crossings generally take 15 to 18 hours to complete the route.

Crossings are led by two guides so the group can be split by pace. Open group crossings have a maximum of 14 walkers and are generally 10 to 12. The organisers provide water, unlimited sugar based snacks and blister plasters, and a small surprise gift at the end. A WhatsApp group is set up for each date to share training tips, and the organisers run free training walks on the North Yorks Moors, the North Yorkshire coast and the Dales.

Bookings are taken via the organiser and other platforms. Entry fee information for listed dates is £140 per person with a £70 non refundable deposit; the remaining balance is due eight weeks prior to the walk. Crossings are offered in both directions, west to east Osmotherley to Ravenscar and east to west Ravenscar to Osmotherley. On organised crossings participants are transferred by minibus to the opposite end before walking back. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
