Bishopton Triathlon
The Bishopton Triathlon takes place at Bishopton Lake within the North East Wake Park in Stockton-on-Tees. The event uses a shallow, man-made lake with water depth no more than 5 ft, allowing participants the option to stand during the swim. The lake is sheltered from wind and described as flat and clear.
The bike course is an open road route through local villages. It is largely flat with few turns and uses sections similar to established cycle series and time trial courses. The run is a lapped trail route on gravel paths and grass around the lake, designed to be spectator friendly.
Entry requires British Triathlon membership or a single use race pass and a valid race licence. Age rules differ by distance: Olympic distance events are for over 18s only, while sprint distance allows 16 year olds with parental permission.
Included services and onsite facilities listed for athletes and spectators include a finishers medal and T-shirt, athlete village, chip timing, way-marked and marshalled routes, event photography, parking, toilets and changing facilities, medical cover, and refreshments. Notes from 2025 state the cycle route was shortened and the run course was changed to address traffic and access constraints.
