Lyke Wake Walk - W to E (guided and supported)
The Lyke Wake Walk is a long-distance crossing of the North York Moors designed to traverse the moors at their widest and highest points. The route runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea coast and follows moorland within the North York Moors National Park. The traditional challenge has no set route; walkers must travel from one marker to the opposite marker within a maximum of 24 hours. The organisers’ guided route is just under 39 miles, and groups generally take 15 to 18 hours to complete.
Guided crossings are supported with two guides per group so participants can be split by pace. Open group sizes are limited to a maximum of 14 walkers, and groups are typically 10–12. Support provisions include on-route water, sugar-based snacks and blister plasters. Organisers provide a full kit list, a training schedule and free guided training walks on nearby moors, coast and dales. A WhatsApp group is created for each date to share training tips and group information.
Entry fee information: standard fee is £140 per person with a £70 non-refundable deposit; the remaining balance is due eight weeks before the walk. Private group bookings are available and bookings may be taken via multiple platforms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
