Long Grove Turkey Trot : Long Grove, IL (November 26, 2026)
The Long Grove Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving day running event held in historic downtown Long Grove, Illinois. The event offers chip-timed races on courses that are almost entirely on paved streets and finishes under the Long Grove covered bridge. Multiple race categories include kid divisions and open fun-run options.

Event gear choices are available with participants selecting a classic t-shirt or upgrading to a thin-tec soft polyester pullover. Postrace offerings include Apple Haus donuts at the finish line, hot apple cider, and beer service for those 21 and older. The event is part of the Run Chicagoland series and also participates in the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run/Walk, which aggregates results on a national leaderboard.
Logistics include packet mailing (available for a fee), on-site packet pick up, and a virtual race option with virtual packets mailed after race day. All water stations provide water and there is no gear check on site. Strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers (must start in the back of the corral and require a parent or guardian waiver); dogs are not permitted. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall for the 5K and 8K categories. Volunteers receive an event shirt.
