About the race
The Long Grove Turkey Trot takes place in Long Grove, Illinois on November 26, 2026. The event offers chip-timed road races through historic downtown Long Grove and finishes under the town’s covered bridge.

- 5K road course
- 8K road course
The course is almost entirely on paved streets. The event includes fun-run and kids categories in addition to chip-timed 5K and 8K fields. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group; age categories run from 10 & under through 70+. Posted course time limits apply to each distance and participants who cannot maintain the limits may be stopped at road crossings.
Participant gear options include a runner’s choice classic t-shirt or an upgrade to a thin-tec soft polyester pullover. Packet mailing is available for a fee and virtual-run participation is supported; virtual packets are typically mailed 1 to 2 weeks after race day. All water stations include water; there is no gear check on site. Headphones are allowed but are not recommended.
Food and post-race refreshments include Apple Haus donuts at the finish and hot apple cider, with beer available for attendees 21 and older at a local tavern after the run.
