About the race
The Long Grove Turkey Trot is a community running event in Long Grove, IL on November 26, 2026. The event marks its 19th running and offers chip timed road races in two distances:
- 5K
- 8K
The course is almost entirely on paved streets and finishes beneath the Long Grove covered bridge. Runners and walkers may choose from chip timed open categories and separate kids categories. All water stations provide water; there is no gear check at the event site. Strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers only and require a parent or guardian waiver. Dogs are not permitted.
Event gear is a runner’s choice between a classic t shirt or an upgrade to a thin tec soft polyester pullover. At the finish participants will find Apple Haus donuts, and hot apple cider is available; beer is served afterward at Long Grove’s Village Tavern for guests age 21 and older. The event is part of the Run Chicagoland Race Series and the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run Walk, with results included on a national leaderboard.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group for both the 5K and 8K. Packet mailing is available for a fee and virtual packet delivery is handled after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
