Lighthouse 5k Series
The Lighthouse 5k Series takes place at the Whalehead Club in the Historic Corolla Park, located in Corolla, North Carolina. This event marks the 16th annual running of the series, which is held on Wednesday mornings during the summer season. The start and finish lines are situated in front of the historic mansion on the grounds of the Whalehead Club.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 5k
- 1 Mile
The course traverses the Historic Village of Corolla Light, providing views of several historic attractions on the Northern Outer Banks. Notable sites along the route include the Whalehead Club, Corolla Light, and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. The event is designed to be accessible to various types of participants, as the courses are walker and stroller friendly. Service dogs are permitted at the event, though no other pets are allowed.
All registered participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medallion. The race utilizes professional chip timing services to track results. Awards are presented to the Top 3 male and female finishers overall, as well as the first-place male and female runners in both the Masters category (over 40) and the Youth category (14 and under).
