Northern Outer Banks Salt & Sound Run/Walk
The event takes place on September 19, 2026 at the Currituck County Rural Center in Powells Point, NC (184 Milburn Sawyer Road). The weekend program includes multiple running and walking distances.

Course details note routes along the edge of the Currituck Sound, over boardwalks, around ponds and horse corrals, and along secondary streets to the waterfront. The 10 km and 5 km courses follow out-and-back patterns on multiple surfaces. The Boardwalk 1 mile follows the Rural Center boardwalk and passes the kayak trail; that event is described as suitable for wheelchairs, strollers and dogs.
Event services include chip timing, water stations and the park’s permanent restrooms. Rear race marshals will be on horseback. Strollers and dogs are welcome but owners must use a leash and are recommended to start at the back. All finishers receive a race medal and the first 150 registrants receive a race shirt.
Registration opened February 10, 2026 and closed July 9, 2026; published entry fees are $40 for the 10 km, $30 for the 5 km and $15 for the 1 mile. A pancake breakfast follows the races.
