Northern Outer Banks Salt & Sound Run/Walk : Currituck County Rural Center
The event takes place on September 19, 2026, at the Currituck County Rural Center in Powells Point, North Carolina. It includes three distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile
Courses run along water thoroughfares and boardwalks to the edge of the Currituck Sound and pass ponds, horse corrals and a kayak trail. The routes use multiple surfaces, which can affect speed. The 1 mile uses the Rural Center boardwalk and is noted as suitable for wheelchairs, strollers and dogs.
Chip timing is provided for each race. Water stations and the park's permanent restrooms are available along the course. Rear race marshals on horseback are listed as part of course safety and support.
Awards include overall and age-division trophies for the 10K and 5K, top finishers for the 1 mile, and a wheelchair division top male and female. All finishers receive a medal and the first 150 registrants receive a race t-shirt. Registration opens February 10, 2026, and closes July 9, 2026; published entry fees vary by event.
