Event overview

The Lighthouse 5k Series on August 26, 2026 is the 16th annual running of the Lighthouse 5k / 1 Mile race series. Distances offered:

All entries include an event t-shirt, a finisher medallion and chip timing. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, the first place masters male and female (over 40) and the first place youth male and female (14 and under). The series is sponsored by Brindley Beach Vacations and highlights historic attractions of the Northern Outer Banks.

Location and logistics

The event is staged at The Whalehead Club, 1100 Club Road, Corolla, NC 27927, within the recently renamed Historic Corolla Park. The course passes the Whalehead Club, Corolla Light and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. Walk-up registration and pre-registered packet pickup/check-in are available on race morning at the start line. The site provides parking and onsite restrooms. The organizer notes the event is walker- and stroller-friendly, allows service dogs, and uses chip timing for results.
