Lighthouse 5k Series
The Lighthouse 5k Series takes place at the Whalehead Club in the Historic Corolla Park, located in Corolla, North Carolina. This event marks the 16th annual running of the race series, which focuses on the historic attractions of the Northern Outer Banks. The course passes several local landmarks, including the historic Whalehead mansion, the village of Corolla Light, and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.
The event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The race course starts and finishes in front of the historic mansion at the Whalehead Club. The route is open to both runners and walkers, and the event specifically allows the use of strollers. Service dogs are permitted on the course, but other pets are not allowed. Onsite facilities include restrooms and plenty of parking for attendees.
All registered participants receive an event t-shirt and a unique finisher medallion. The race uses chip timing for all participants to record individual results. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, the first-place male and female in the Masters category (ages 40 and over), and the first-place male and female in the youth category (ages 14 and under). The event supports and assists local charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
