Leighton 10

The Leighton 10 is an annual road race organized by the Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club. The event features a 10-mile course that has been officially measured. The race is hosted at Ascott House, a Grade II* listed National Trust property located in Wing, near Leighton Buzzard. This event serves as a Bedfordshire County Championships race, open to those born in or residing in Bedfordshire for at least nine months, as well as general participants.

The route consists primarily of roads open to traffic, with the exception of the first and final stretches. The first 100 meters of the race take place on grass within a farmer's field. Participants run on the left side of the road for the majority of the course, crossing to the right side at the 8.5-mile mark within the Ledburn 30 mph zone for approximately half a mile. To ensure safety, the use of in-ear headphones is not permitted. Water stations are positioned along the route at approximately 2.5 miles, 4.5 miles, 6.7 miles, 8.7 miles, and at the finish line.

Facilities at the race headquarters, located in the cricket pavilion, include a bag drop area and toilets. Free parking for approximately 300 vehicles is available on-site at Ascott House, though dogs are strictly prohibited in all areas, including the grounds and car parks. The event provides electronic chip timing for all runners. Medical support is available via first aid stations, and a local provider offers complimentary sports massages.
