Event Overview

The Duck N Dash Aquathlon is a multi-sport event organised by Freedom Tri. The event consists of a pool swim followed by a run. The 16th edition will be held at the Letchworth Outdoor Swimming Pool in Letchworth Garden City.

Distances

The event features multiple categories with different distances based on age.

  • Senior participants (17+ years) and Adult Relay Teams: a 400m swim and a 5k run.
  • Junior participants: events for ages 8 to 16 with progressively shorter distances. The swim distances range from 50m to 400m, and run distances range from 0.6k to 5k. Ages are calculated based on year of birth as of 31st December 2026.

Event Details

The event is part of the East Region Adult Race Series. For entry into the series, participants must provide their British Triathlon Federation (BTF) number during registration. Non-members must purchase a BTF Race Pass (£8 for adults, £2 for under 25s).

Chip timing is used for the competition, which has age group and open/female categories. The event has a maximum entry of 350 participants and is open to athletes from 8 to 80 years old. It also works with the BTF to involve visually impaired and mixed ability athletes. There is an adult team relay option for two people (one swimmer, one runner).

Entry and Logistics

Registration and timing chip collection happen on the Saturday before the event and on Sunday morning. Participants must register in person. Several entry types are available, including family tickets, individual adult/child entries, and adult relay entries. A 6% booking fee is added at checkout. The run portion of the event takes place in the local nature reserve of Norton Common, with prize-giving ceremonies also held there. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
