Event Overview
The Latitude-Fall Triathlon is an annual multi-sport event held at Fort Travis Seashore Park on the Bolivar Peninsula. The event is limited to 200 participants. It is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event, requiring participants to have a USA Triathlon membership.
Distances and Events
The event offers Sprint and Olympic distance races across several categories:
- Age Group Sprint Triathlon: 500m swim, 12.5 mi bike, 3.1 mi run
- Age Group Olympic Triathlon: 0.93 mi (1500m) swim, 25 mi bike, 6.2 mi run
- Duathlon Sprint: 0.5 mi run, 12.5 mi bike, 3.1 mi run
- Duathlon Olympic: 0.5 mi run, 25 mi bike, 6.2 mi run
- Athena / Clydesdale categories for Sprint and Olympic distances
- Aquabike (swim-bike) events for Sprint and Olympic distances
- Relay events (Ladies, Male, Mixed) for both Sprint and Olympic distances
Course Details
The swim segment takes place in the Gulf of Mexico with a protected barrier on both sides. The bike segment is an out-and-back route on Highway 87, with Olympic-distance athletes completing two loops and Sprint-distance athletes completing one loop. The run segment goes through a local neighborhood with views of the Gulf, with one loop for the Sprint and two loops for the Olympic distance.
Additional Information
All registered athletes receive a finisher medal. Shirts are provided to those registered before the order deadline. An after-party with music and food is held. The venue includes a playground. Awards are given to overall and age group winners, as well as Clydesdale and Athena categories. Packet pickup occurs on two days at different locations. The event is chip-timed.
