Galveston Island Turkey Trot
The Galveston Island Turkey Trot is an annual running and walking event held on Thanksgiving Day. The race takes place on the Galveston Island Seawall, offering participants views of the Gulf Coast throughout the activity. The event follows an out and back route that concludes at Menard Park, located behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center.

The course is described as flat and is open to both runners and walkers. Participants are welcome to wear costumes during the race. Following the completion of the 5K, a post-race party is held at Menard Park.
Free parking is available for participants on the Seawall or within the Menard Park parking lot. The event proceeds in various weather conditions, including rain. The Galveston Island Turkey Trot supports HART, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting health and fitness initiatives on the island and in the surrounding local area.
Awards are presented to the first place overall male and female finishers, as well as the first place master male and female. Additionally, the top three finishers in each age group receive recognition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
