Galveston Island Turkey Trot
The Galveston Island Turkey Trot is the 5th annual community 5K held on Galveston Island. The course is flat and follows the Galveston Island Seawall as an out and back route, offering views of the Gulf Coast. The event is held rain or shine and includes a post race party that ends at Menard Park behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center.
Parking is available free on the Seawall or in the parking lot at Menard Park. Costumes are welcome for participants.
The event supports HART, a nonprofit that focuses on health and fitness on the island and surrounding area. HART helps local running teams, supports other nonprofits, provides volunteer support and donations for community needs, and offers free run and walk events, wellness clinics, fitness scholarships, and student discounts.
Awards are presented for overall and age categories, including first place overall male and female, first place master male and female, and the top three finishers in each age group.
