Galveston Island Turkey Trot
The Galveston Island Turkey Trot is the fifth annual community 5K event held on the Galveston Island Seawall. The course is described as flat and out and back, with views of the Gulf Coast. The event includes both an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option.
Distances offered:
- 5K (3.1 Miles) in person.

A post-race gathering ends at Menard Park behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center. Free parking is available on the Seawall or in the Menard Park parking lot. Costumes are welcome and the event proceeds in rain or shine.
The race supports HART, a nonprofit that promotes health and fitness on the island and nearby areas. HART provides support to area running teams and other nonprofits, volunteers and donates to community needs, and offers free run and walk events, wellness clinics, fitness scholarships, and student discounts.
Registration fees are listed for the listed events at $35.00 each. Awards are given by category including overall, masters, and the top three in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
