About the race
The Kosciuszko Freedom Run is scheduled for September 20, 2026, at C&O Canal National Historic Park in Great Falls, Maryland. The event is hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C., the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Washington, D.C., and the Montgomery County Road Runners Club.
The event program includes the following distances:

- Kids' 1K
Registration is free. Registration opens August 20, 2026 and closes September 20, 2026. Each participant receives a medal and a souvenir. Top performers in the 5K receive special prizes.
The run honors the legacy of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, who served in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and played a role in the American Revolution. Kosciuszko is described by the organizers as a military leader and advocate for liberty; he was born in 1746 and died in 1817.
The event lists honorary patronage from the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania.
