Lake Needwood Trail 10K
The Lake Needwood Trail 10K is a trail running event held at Needwood Lake in Derwood, MD. The course covers a ten kilometer route over natural surfaces and includes hills, mud, grass, and trail sections that affect footing and pacing. A course map is available for participants.
The event includes a youth running option alongside the main race. The youth run is a one quarter mile course and is part of the youth running series; timing chips are not used for youth runs and parental or guardian registration is required prior to race day. Parents or guardians may accompany children without registering.
Registration and event operations follow the club's low-key race procedures. MCRRC members may participate in low-key races without per-race fees but must register for a 2026 bib and chip in advance; older chips may be exchanged and new chip deposits of five dollars may be requested. Non members pay a registration fee of twenty two dollars for participants 18 and older and eleven dollars sixty cents for participants under 18; online registration remains open through the start of the race and bib and chip pickup occurs on race morning near the start area. Events are staffed by volunteers and volunteers are needed. Non members who cannot attend may contact the club office to transfer registration to another low-key event; monetary refunds are not provided.
