Event Overview
The Lake Needwood 10K XC is a cross-country running event held at Needwood Lake in Derwood, Maryland. The course features a variety of natural terrain including trails, grass, hills, and potentially muddy sections. The event is part of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC) low-key race series.

Registration and Participation
MCRRC members can participate in the 10 km race for free. While members do not need to register for the specific date, they must have a valid 2026 bib and timing chip. Members using chips from previous years can exchange them at the site, though a deposit may be required for new chips or replacements.
Non-members may participate by paying a registration fee. Online registration for non-members remains open through the start of the event, and participants are encouraged to register via smartphone before arriving at the venue. Bib and chip pick-up for non-members takes place near the start area on the morning of the event.
The youth run is a 1/4 mile untimed event. It is free for all participants, but a parent or guardian must complete a registration for the child prior to the event day. Parents are permitted to accompany children during the run without a separate registration.
