About the race
The Kaufman Turkey Trot is a community running event held on Thanksgiving Day in Kaufman, Texas, with a start and finish area at 215 West Mulberry Street on the Kaufman Square. The event program includes a timed 5K run/walk and a 1 mile fun run for all ages, plus music, photo opportunities, vendors, and sponsor displays. Costumes are encouraged and prizes are awarded for top finishers and best-dressed participants. A pet costume contest is part of the event.
The race supports a local nonprofit, The Center; fundraising progress shown is $371.35 toward a $5,000 goal (about 7%). The event lists about 60 participants and several sponsors including Reese Air Services, Judge Russell, Law Office of Carol A. Wilson, PLLC, and Integrity Urgent Care.
Additional participation options include a limited VIP add-on for the first 10 registrants that provides VIP lounge access for the registrant plus up to two guests, gourmet beverages and snacks, a power station, VIP restrooms, and front row parking for one vehicle. A Sleep-In registration option is available for those who prefer not to attend in person; sleep-in registrants receive race apparel shipped to them. Packet pick up is offered the day before in front of Latham's Bakery on the Kaufman Square and on race day. The event proceeds rain or shine.
