Course, logistics and awards
The in-person event is hosted at Long Leaf Park - Shelter 6, 314 Pine Grove Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409. The course uses a paved trail: a double loop for 5K participants and one loop for 1.5 mile participants. The course is stroller and wheelchair friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the trail during the race.
Shirt sizes for in-person participants are guaranteed until March 15. Virtual participants who register by March 15 are guaranteed a shirt by April 1; additional shipping fees apply if swag is mailed. Participant parking should be limited to hard-top lots; visitors may use hard-top parking across from Shelter 6. At the race there will be on-site registration options including a QR code.
Awards for the 5K include top three overall male and female and top three in multiple age groups. The 1.5 mile has top three boys and girls. Team awards recognize the largest local and largest virtual teams.
Purpose
All proceeds benefit Journey to Heal Ministries, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) established in 2018. The organization provides free, trauma-informed peer recovery programs, one-to-one mentoring, support groups, education, resources, and an annual women's conference focused on supporting adult survivors of past sexual abuse.
