The Journey to Heal Ministries Hope Run is the 8th annual 5K and 1.5 Mile event on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Wilmington, NC. A virtual race challenge runs from April 1, 2026 to April 26, 2026 and can be completed anywhere. Events offered include:
- 5K
- 1.5 Mile
- Virtual 5K
- Virtual 1.5 Mile
Entry fees listed are $30 for the in-person 5K and $20 for each of the other events. The in-person 5K is a timed event; the in-person 1.5 Mile is not timed. Children 12 and under receive a $10 discounted rate during registration. Teams of 10 or more may receive a group discount when they follow the organizer’s instructions before creating a team.
Course and logistics
The in-person event is based at Long Leaf Park - Shelter 6, 314 Pine Grove Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409. The course uses the park’s paved trail, with a double loop for the 5K and one loop for the 1.5 Mile. The trail is stroller and wheelchair friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the trail during the race. Long Leaf Park requests that participants park only in hardtop parking areas and avoid parking at the shelter area.
Shirt sizes for in-person participants are guaranteed until March 15. Virtual participants who register by March 15 are guaranteed race shirt and swag by April 1; mailed swag may incur an additional shipping fee.
Awards and purpose
5K awards include top 3 overall male and female and top 3 in multiple age groups. The 1.5 Mile awards top 3 boys and top 3 girls. There are team awards for the largest local team and largest virtual team. All race proceeds benefit Journey to Heal Ministries, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018 that provides free mentoring, support groups, education, and an annual women’s conference for adult survivors of past sexual abuse.
