Race for the Planet : Event details
Race for the Planet takes place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Kure Beach, NC. The event supports the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher through the NC Aquarium Society. The race site is Battle Acre Park, 1610 Fort Fisher Blvd. South, Kure Beach, NC.

Packet pick up is available at Fleet Feet Crossroads in Wilmington and at Battle Acre Park in Kure Beach. The event includes awards for the 5K: three-deep awards for overall male and female, masters male and female, and age groups (10 and under; 11-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+). The 1 Mile awards are top three male and female.
The event promotes sustainability. Registrations include a “Sustainabili-TEE” made from 100% organic cotton printed with water-based ink, or entrants may choose a no-shirt option and donate $10 to fund sustainability initiatives. The race offers sustainable swag sales that benefit the aquarium, a mobile household hazardous waste and electronics recycling drive, and tips such as carpooling, bringing a reusable water bottle, and reusing race safety pins.
